As summer approaches, many are turning to bold, seasonal hair transformations—and Jennifer Love Hewitt may have just set the tone for the trendiest color of the season.
On May 9, the 9-1-1 star unveiled her new copper-toned hair on Instagram, crediting celebrity stylist and Wella Professionals ambassador Nikki Lee for the transformation. The rich, brassy red hue—aptly named “Sunset Lover”—marks a striking departure from Hewitt’s previous shoulder-length brunette locks with blonde highlights.
“I have wanted to be red for so long,” Hewitt wrote in the caption. “@nikkilee901 crushed this color! She named my color Sunset Lover.”
Lee, who shared her own Instagram post detailing the makeover, has become known for her creative approach to red shades. Earlier this year, she worked with actress Emma Roberts to achieve a vibrant hue dubbed “Sunrise Red.” In March, actress Kayla Well also debuted copper-colored hair styled by Lee, further reinforcing the red hair renaissance.
The shift toward warm, red-based tones isn’t new, but it shows no sign of slowing. From deep burgundies like last summer’s popular “Wild Cherry” to the viral “Cowboy Copper,” red shades have continued to dominate seasonal color trends. Hewitt’s “Sunset Lover” look, with its sun-drenched copper balayage, is poised to become the next big color of the summer.
With red tones offering a bold yet versatile palette—from deep auburns to light coppers—it’s no surprise they remain a favorite among both stylists and celebrities. And with Hewitt’s latest transformation gaining attention online, it’s likely that “Sunset Lover” will soon be filling salons and mood boards alike.
