Comedian Park Na-rae Diagnosed with Hair Loss, Begins Treatment

by Madonna

SEOUL – Comedian Park Na-rae, 39, revealed her recent diagnosis of hair loss during a preview of MBC’s variety show I Live Alone, which aired on April 25. The episode showed Park visiting a clinic specializing in hair loss, where she underwent a scalp analysis that left her visibly stunned.

During the consultation, Park was shown an image of the top of her head, revealing significant thinning. “There’s nothing left up here,” she said in disbelief. The attending physician explained that the gaps between her hair strands had widened and the overall thickness had diminished. Park responded, “I used to have so much hair,” expressing her surprise at the extent of the loss.

Following the consultation, Park agreed to begin scalp treatment, which was also partially featured in the trailer.

Later, she visited the studio of fellow entertainer Gian84, where she shared her concerns. After examining her condition, Gian84 quipped, “It looks like male-pattern hair loss. Are you producing male hormones now?” Park responded lightheartedly, “I guess I’m becoming a real man,” before adding optimistically, “Thankfully, it’s not too late.”

Park Na-rae’s full diagnosis and treatment journey is set to air on May 2.

Experts advise that lifestyle changes can play a critical role in preventing or managing hair loss. Diets rich in protein—especially foods that support keratin production, such as nuts (high in vitamin E), salmon, mackerel, olive oil, and black beans—can promote hair and scalp health. Conversely, spicy, salty, or fatty foods, as well as excessive alcohol intake, can increase sebum production and exacerbate scalp issues.
