On the June 14 episode of JTBC’s hit variety show Knowing Bros (episode 486), singer and dancer Lee Chae Yeon surprised viewers with a heartfelt confession about her hair loss struggles and her decision to undergo hair transplant surgery.
Appearing alongside fellow guests Kim Wan Sun, Narsha of Brown Eyed Girls, and Chanelle Moon from FIFTY FIFTY, Lee recounted an embarrassing moment at the popular Waterbomb Festival that pushed her to take action.
“During my first Waterbomb Festival, I tried to cover thinning areas with hair fibers,” she explained. “But once I got wet, they washed off completely, leaving obvious patches. That’s when rumors about my hair loss began.”
Realizing the recurring nature of such public events, Lee made the bold choice to get a hair transplant. “I thought, ‘This is serious. I have to keep attending Waterbomb,’ so I immediately got a hair transplant,” she shared. The singer revealed she had a total of 3,571 grafts transplanted—a number that drew gasps from the cast.
Narsha, visibly surprised, remarked, “Anything over 3,000 grafts is considered a lot,” emphasizing the scale of Lee’s procedure.
When host Seo Jang Hoon jokingly asked if the surgery had been performed by Han Sang Bo, a prominent figure in the field of hair restoration, Lee confirmed with a laugh, “That’s right,” validating a long-standing rumor.
