Ernakulam South, Kochi — Authorities have launched an investigation into a skin and hair transplant clinic in Panampilly Nagar after a patient filed a complaint alleging severe health complications following a hair transplant surgery. The patient reportedly suffered a serious bacterial infection on his scalp, resulting in skin loss and exposure of the skull.
Ernakulam South police registered a case and named three accused individuals: Dr. Sarathkumar, 45, and Gokul, 40, both associated with Insight Derma Clinic, along with an unidentified woman. Since the complaint was filed, the clinic has been closed, and police have conducted a raid, seizing evidence related to the case. The accused remain at large.
According to the first information report (FIR), the patient underwent the hair transplant procedure on February 26 but was allegedly treated in unhygienic conditions, leading to bacterial infection and complications during hair transplant recovery. The infection reportedly caused significant tissue damage, raising serious concerns about patient safety and clinic standards.
The accused have been charged under Sections 125, 125(a), and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, relating to acts endangering life or personal safety.
This case highlights the critical importance of hygiene and professional care in hair transplant surgery to prevent complications during recovery.
