Mother-Daughter Duo Champions Hair Health and Representation with Camel Glow

by Madonna

In a deeply personal journey that blends resilience, heritage, and innovation, Palestinian-Mexican entrepreneur Daniela Biah has turned her struggle with hair loss into a thriving business. As the founder and CEO of Camel Glow, a Canadian-based hair care brand, Biah is on a mission to empower women by addressing real-world hair concerns with natural, culturally inspired solutions.

At the heart of Camel Glow’s origin story is Biah’s battle with androgenetic alopecia—a form of hair loss she candidly describes as her breaking point. “I’ve done everything bad to my hair you can think of. Eventually, I said, let me try to fix this absolute mess I have on my head,” she shares. Her experimentation with natural ingredients led to dramatic improvements in her hair, prompting frequent questions from friends and strangers alike.

Fueled by this growing interest and the financial strain of the COVID-19 pandemic, Biah decided to pivot from blogging to entrepreneurship. “I took the last of my money and invested it into our first product,” she recalls. Determined to deepen her understanding, Biah even studied trichology—the science of hair and scalp health—laying a strong foundation for her growing product line.

Key to Camel Glow’s early success was Biah’s mother, Lilia, whose organizational skills and dedication made her an irreplaceable partner. “She did everything super important for a company—orders, processes, finances,” says Biah. “We would make batches of hair oil in our kitchen, and my mom would literally tell the products beautiful words. She believed those words would influence the results for our customers.”

Tragically, Lilia passed away earlier this year. Her loss remains a profound challenge, but her spirit continues to shape the company. In her memory, Biah donates a portion of monthly profits to charity—a way for her mother’s kindness to live on through Camel Glow’s mission.

Camel Glow’s hair care tips are rooted in holistic, culturally rich practices. Drawing inspiration from Middle Eastern beauty rituals, the brand uses plant-based, cruelty-free ingredients, sourced from countries known for their quality. Biah explains, “I wanted this brand to be Middle Eastern-inspired. It’s a way for me to connect with my Arab roots. What’s more Middle Eastern than a camel?”

The company’s debut product, a transformative hair oil, remains Biah’s favorite, followed by a convenient scalp spray. Her personal hair care steps include oiling twice a week, using the spray daily, and washing every three days—a regimen that reflects the brand’s focus on healthy, sustainable hair care.

Today, Camel Glow stands for more than just beauty. It’s a celebration of real women, real struggles, and the healing power of community and culture. “I know what it’s like to be self-conscious about your hair,” says Biah. “We want to help people be more confident.”

Through her journey, Daniela Biah proves that hair care can be more than routine—it can be a form of empowerment, healing, and legacy.
