Teddi Mellencamp, the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, is seeking wig suggestions as she continues her battle with stage 4 cancer.
On Sunday, April 6, the 43-year-old shared a candid selfie on Instagram, revealing that her ongoing brain tumor treatment has caused significant hair loss. Mellencamp, who had previously shaved her head before surgery, explained that one side of her head is now completely bald. She requested recommendations for “non-itchy or hot wigs,” expressing frustration with some of her previous purchases, including a half-wig/baseball cap combination. “Let’s do better,” she wrote, humorously adding that these products “hurt my feelings.”
Mellencamp’s post garnered an outpouring of support from fans and fellow celebrities. Bachelor in Paradise star Ashley Iaconetti commented, “Thinking about you every day! You look gorgeous!” while Real Housewives of Miami star Alexia Nepola shared, “YOU are beautiful sending you so much love.” One fan also wrote, “Warriors/Survivors don’t need wigs. You are a ROCKSTAR!! Praying for you!”
The reality star has been open about her health struggles since her diagnosis in February, when doctors discovered multiple tumors on her brain after she experienced “severe and debilitating headaches” for weeks. On February 12, Mellencamp underwent surgery to remove four large tumors, and her smaller tumors are being treated with radiation and immunotherapy. Last week, she confirmed that her cancer had reached stage 4, after her melanoma, first diagnosed in 2022, spread to her brain and lungs.
“Some days I feel really really strong, and some days I feel really really sad and alone,” Mellencamp shared. “And I think that’s a normal part of what any of us are going through, and that’s okay. Stage 4 cancer can be scary.” She added, with emotion, “I kinda thought that I had already beaten it, and then a couple of days later, I found out I had four more tumors. So there’s so many different highs and lows.”
Despite the challenging news, Mellencamp celebrated a major milestone in her treatment on April 3. She posted a video on her Instagram Stories showing her ringing the hospital bell to mark the end of her radiation treatment. “I’ve got my graduation papers,” she said, before reading the plaque on the bell. “The good luck bell. Ring this bell three times well, it’s told to clearly say my treatment’s done, the course is run, and I am on my way.” She rang the bell as people cheered in the background, exclaiming, “We made it, guys!”
Mellencamp added, “Ringing the bell can signify a major phase of treatment — Today was my last day of radiation. 5 more rounds of immunotherapy to go. Love you all for the kind messages.”
As she navigates this difficult journey, Mellencamp continues to receive heartfelt messages of support and encouragement from her followers and loved ones.
