Courteney Cox humorously referenced her Friends character, Monica Geller, to comment on how the Miami humidity affected her hair.
On Wednesday, May 22, Cox shared a playful Instagram video during her trip to Miami. The clip starts with her indoors, her hair smooth and sleek, as she says, “I love Miami!” She then steps onto a patio, and her hair quickly turns into voluminous curls.
Cox, 59, mimicked one of Monica’s famous lines by mouthing, “It’s the humidity!” This quote comes from a season 9 episode of Friends, titled “The One in Barbados Part 1,” where Monica’s hair frizzes up due to the Caribbean humidity, leading her to exclaim, “It’s the humidity!” as her friends tease her.
In the comments of Cox’s post, fans of Friends referenced jokes from the episode. One fan wrote, “That’s not true. I came with Monica, I’m leaving with Weird Al.” Another added, “ARE YOU LEAVING THE SUPREMES?”
Cox often pokes fun at her past characters’ hairstyles. In January, she posted a video on Instagram reacting to some of her most memorable looks. In the clip, someone wearing a sweatshirt with a photo of Cox’s Scream 3 character, Gale Weathers, approaches her. Cox reacts by saying, “What is that? Don’t wear that sweatshirt. The bangs? Come on. That’s ridiculous. It’s embarrassing.”
The video continues with Cox encountering a construction crew all wearing sweatshirts with pictures of her characters’ notable hairstyles, including Monica’s frizzy hair. She quickly walks away as eerie music plays in the background.
