Growth Bomb Unveils ‘World-First’ Range for Postpartum Hair Loss

by Madonna

Melbourne-based haircare brand Growth Bomb has launched a pioneering new product range designed to combat postpartum hair loss—marking what the company claims is a world-first for this underserved market segment.

The new Post Pregnancy Support line targets women experiencing hair thinning, shedding, and dryness after childbirth, conditions commonly triggered by hormonal fluctuations, especially falling estrogen levels. The range includes a supplement, scalp serum, and shampoo—each developed to restore scalp health and support hair through its natural growth cycle.

The launch marks a significant expansion for Growth Bomb, with products now rolling out across more than 1,700 retail outlets nationwide. This includes 850 Woolworths supermarkets, 350 Priceline stores, and 510 Chemist Warehouse locations.

“Our approach is holistic,” said Hannah Butters, head of brand at Growth Bomb, in an interview with SmartCompany. “We’re not just targeting hair growth—we’re addressing the scalp and gut microbiome as the foundation for long-term hair health.”

A New Frontier in Hair Health

Postpartum hair loss affects nearly 50% of women, yet few brands have developed dedicated products to address this particular stage of life. According to Butters, the company’s research identified a clear gap in the market—and a personal connection to the issue helped drive the initiative.

“One of our co-founders recently had a baby, and his wife experienced postpartum hair loss,” Butters said. “That made this cause personal and urgent. We wanted to offer hair care tips and tools that directly support women during this critical time.”

Unlike traditional offerings that focus solely on stimulating growth, Growth Bomb’s trio of products aims to address the full spectrum of postpartum hair concerns. The inclusion of ingredients that support both scalp and internal health represents a comprehensive shift in how hair care steps are approached during the fourth trimester.

Rapid Growth and Global Ambitions

Founded in 2020 by Hamish Buckley and Blair James—who also co-founded Australian tanning giant Bondi Sands—Growth Bomb has sold more than one million products in just five years. The company has reported 40% year-on-year growth, with Australian retail sales up 46% and international markets such as the UK, US, and EU experiencing 100% annual growth.

Its expanding footprint now spans thousands of retail locations globally, including Coles, TerryWhite Chemmart, and more than 1,500 independent pharmacies in Australia, along with 5,000+ stores internationally. The brand also plans to enter Target US later this year.

Butters emphasizes that the brand’s mission goes beyond cosmetic concerns. “Postpartum hair loss isn’t just about looks—it’s about how women feel during an already overwhelming time,” she said. “Having a solution that targets this specific period can help ease the mental load and restore confidence.”

With its postpartum range now on shelves, Growth Bomb aims to offer not just products, but meaningful hair health advice to support women through every stage of life.
