April 2025 — Prestige hair care brand Olaplex reported a sharp decline in profits for the first quarter of 2025, posting net income of $0.5 million—down significantly from $7.7 million in the same period last year.
Net sales fell 1.9% year-over-year to $97 million in the quarter ending March 31, the company announced Thursday. While sales in the specialty retail channel rose 12% to $38.6 million, these gains were not enough to offset double-digit losses in other areas of the business. Sales in the professional channel dropped 10.9%, while the direct-to-consumer segment declined 7.2%.
Despite the continued downward trend, Olaplex reaffirmed its full-year guidance, projecting net sales between $410 million and $430 million for 2025.
“We had a solid start to the year, as the quarter marked continued progress on our transformation … with first-quarter sales coming in ahead of our expectations,” said Amanda Baldwin, Olaplex Chief Executive Officer, in a statement.
The results reflect the company’s ongoing efforts to stabilize performance amid increased competition and evolving consumer behavior in the premium hair care market.
