Artificial intelligence continues to transform medical diagnostics, and the field of hair transplant surgery is no exception. After nearly a decade of research and development in collaboration with Kocaeli University and TÜBİTAK, Dr. Koray Erdoğan, founder and medical director of ASMED, has unveiled KE-BOT—an AI-powered scalp analysis robot designed to standardize and enhance hair transplant planning. Recently awarded a U.S. patent, KE-BOT represents a significant breakthrough in hair restoration diagnostics.
KE-BOT performs comprehensive 360-degree scalp mapping, capturing high-resolution data on hair shaft thickness, follicular density, and distribution with unprecedented precision. Unlike traditional approaches that rely heavily on subjective visual assessments and manual measurements, KE-BOT delivers consistent and reproducible metrics that guide clinicians throughout the hair transplant surgery process.
“We built KE-BOT to bring standardization, objectivity, and data transparency into a field that has long relied on visual estimations,” Dr. Erdoğan said. “Securing the U.S. patent marks a milestone both for our team and for the integration of artificial intelligence into clinical diagnostics.”
The system’s AI engine processes intricate visual inputs and converts them into quantifiable values, supporting both pre- and post-procedural analysis. Clinicians and patients can access real-time mapped data and procedural metrics through KE-BOT Mobile, a digital application connected to ASMED’s centralized data servers. This interactive tool enhances transparency and allows for detailed monitoring of hair transplant before and after results.
The introduction of KE-BOT aligns with the global shift toward personalized medicine, where diagnostic and treatment decisions are driven by patient-specific data rather than generalized protocols. By delivering precise, patient-tailored maps within minutes, KE-BOT streamlines diagnostic workflows, enabling faster procedural planning and more efficient consultations.
While Türkiye has established itself as a global hub for hair restoration, the U.S. patent recognition for KE-BOT spotlights the region’s growing capacity to develop cutting-edge health technology with international impact.
“This innovation transcends robotics—it represents a new standard of precision, transparency, and evidence-based planning in hair transplant surgery,” Dr. Erdoğan added.
As hair transplant techniques continue to evolve, tools like KE-BOT may soon become integral in ensuring optimal outcomes, marking a new era in hair restoration diagnostics.
